Jack’s Savvy Crab Legs
Check out this awesome crab recipe by a junior chef!
We love getting the kids involved in the kitchen. It is a great way to spend time together as a family creating something from scratch. If the kids are growing the ingredients in the garden and/or cooking they will most likely want to try it. This is a great idea if your little one is a picky eater. Start with an easy recipe like this one!
Baking is also a lot of fun to do together. Growing up, my mom, sister and I would bake chocolate chip cookies, brownies, cupcakes and I remember in fifth grade I had a couple of girlfriends sleepover and we made crepes with strawberries and cream in the morning all by ourselves!
This recipe could work a couple of different ways. You could follow the recipe as is or you could melt the seasoning into the butter and pour it over the crab legs. It would work with our curry masala seasoning, al pastor if you want to add some heat from the chipotle chili pepper, or mole verde which is like the Mexican herbes de provence, so to speak.

Serving Size: 2-3
3 cups Water
2 Tablespoons Mojo Cítrico
1 Lemon or Lime, sliced thick
2 lb Crab Legs
- Combine the first 3 ingredients in a large stockpot. Place Steamer basket in pot. Cover and bring to a boil on high heat.
- Add crab legs to the steamer basket and steam for about 5 minutes or until cooked through. Serve with melted butter if desired.
Needless to say, being able to cook helps you become self sufficient once you go out into the adult world and girls love it when boys can cook! In Italy, all the boys I met could at least make you a homemade pasta dish in their sleep- impressive!
